This article aims to tell you guys the procedure on how we replace and program the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for Ford Explorer 2011 using Autel IM608. If we put on the new module without programming it, the car with new PCM will not start and immobilizer will act up.<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s see how to do it.<\/p>\n

Step 1 PCM Programming<\/p>\n

First we select \u201cDiagnostics\u201d and \u201cAuto Scan\u201d to enter the main menu.<\/p>\n

Then we press<\/p>\n

Programming>>Programmable Module Installation>>PCM<\/p>\n

It will copy VIN number and other information from the module.<\/p>\n

Press \u201cOK\u201d and confirm the VIN number.<\/p>\n

Then switch off the ignition.<\/p>\n

Install a new module (PCM) in vehicle as the prompt.<\/p>\n

Then switch on the ignition.<\/p>\n

Here the car won\u2019t start as we mentioned before.<\/p>\n

And make sure the battery is good and turn off all accessories.<\/p>\n

Now it\u2019s configuring information.<\/p>\n

Switch off the ignition to finish this step.<\/p>\n

Step 2 Parameter Reset<\/p>\n

Back to Homepage,<\/p>\n

We select \u201cIMMO\u201d and \u201cAuto detect\u201d to enter the main menu.<\/p>\n

Then press<\/p>\n

Smart key>>Control unit>>Keyless System(CAN)>>Key learning<\/p>\n

Now we\u2019ve got options about parameter reset.<\/p>\n

We select \u201cParameter reset (BCM & PCM)\u201d<\/p>\n

Turn on the ignition.<\/p>\n

Usually it takes ten minutes.<\/p>\n

After that we have to do \u201cParameter reset (BCM & RFA)\u201d<\/p>\n

Once two parameter reset processes are finished, the car can start.<\/p>\n
