BMW ICOM<\/a> A is a diagnostic head unit for all BMW cars and motorcycles. It is connected with network cable to a computer and by OBD connector to a car. Used for diagnostic faults, error clearing, coding and programming units.<\/p>\n

BMW ICOM B\u00a0is a programming\u00a0and diagnostic head unit for all BMW cars with MOST optical port. It is connected with USB cable to a ICOM A1, A2,A3\uff0cNEXT A diagnostic head. Used for diagnostic faults, error clearing, coding and programming units.<\/p>\n

How to connect ICOM B module with car:<\/strong>
\nPut the ICOM B at the USB port from your ICOM main interface.<\/p>\n

Open the optical port on ICOM B and connect it to the car. For example on a E92 it is a little bit more right to the diag plug under the steering stock (a black plastic plate should be removed).<\/p>\n

Here you can see the optical plug, remove the lenscap before you use it.<\/p>\n

The location can be found in ISTA and is depending on the cars type you are working.<\/p>\n

How to use ICOM B for initial use:<\/strong>
\nBefore flashing anything with a new ICOM-B for the first time, I recommend doing a stress test with Tool32.<\/p>\n

Configure Ediabas to most async ab 625, open Tool32\u00a0and cicr.prg.<\/p>\n

Then select job fs_lesen<\/p>\n

and then from Tool32 top bar, select \u201cplay\u201d.<\/p>\n

This will make the \u201cread error memory\u201d job run on repeat.<\/p>\n

If it can do it for 30-60 minutes, then the head is probably ok.<\/p>\n

Obviously the ICOM emulator\u00a0must be connected to the CIC.
\nWhen you make a flashing , you can confirm data communication in task managers.<\/p>\n

How to read LED info from ICOM B:<\/strong>
\nThe ICOM B includes a (2) two LED display. These LED|s displays the following information<\/p>\n

and warnings:<\/p>\n

1.One 2-color LED label\u00a0SYSTEM\u00a0for the general status:<\/p>\n

Off \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013 no power or problems with power supply<\/p>\n

Yellow \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013 initializing ICOM B<\/p>\n

Red flashing \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014- problems with booting\/initializing<\/p>\n

Green \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013 ready<\/p>\n

Green flashing \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013 communication<\/p>\n

2.One 2-color LED label\u00a0MOST\u00a0for the status of MOST communication Ethernet:<\/p>\n

Off \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014 no light at MOST<\/p>\n

Red \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2013 no lockable light<\/p>\n

Green \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014stable LOCK<\/p>\n

Yellow *\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014- no stable LOCK<\/p>\n

* Yellow = the relevant LED lights up simultaneously red and green.<\/p>\n
