ISTA\/P is legacy now for E series cars.)<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Start new session in ISTA D\/ ISTA+, perform the identification of vehicle and a test:<\/p>\n<p><a on the screen.<\/p>\n<p>Important!<\/p>\n<p>Follow the instructions very carefully! If deleting of adaptations was successful, you will see notice \u201cAdaptation values and taught versions were reset\u201d. If EML (check engine) symbol appears on KOMBI and increased\/incorrect idle is observed:<br \/>\nturn off the engine; turn on the ignition;<br \/>\nslowly press and release accelerator pedal for three times;<br \/>\nstart the engine;<\/p>\n<p>b) accelerate till 100 .. 110km\/h on even road;<br \/>\nc) switch the 4th gear (for automatic transmission \u2013 in manual mode);<br \/>\nd) release the accelerator pedal, brake with the engine (don\u2019t press brake pedal) for 7 .. 10 seconds;<br \/>\nRepeat points b .. d three times;<\/p>\n<p>e) stop the car, switch off the ignition, takeoff the key, disconnect the diagnostics cable;<br \/>\nf) wait, till the lighting of start\/stop button turns off.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Re-adaptation of the fuel mixture<br \/>\na) turn on the engine;<br \/>\nAttention: the car may run unevenly! If EML (check engine) symbol appears on KOMBI and increased\/incorrect idle is observed:<br \/>\n* turn off the engine; turn on the ignition;<br \/>\n* slowly press and release accelerator pedal for three times;<br \/>\n* start the engine;<\/p>\n<p>b) allow the engine to run idle for 5 minutes;<br \/>\nc) perform the driving session with even speed 60 .. 90km\/h; 5 .. 10min;<br \/>\nd) repeat points b .. c for several times;<br \/>\ne) stop the car, switch off the ignition, takeoff the key, disconnect the diagnostics cable;<br \/>\nf) wait, till the lighting of start\/stop button turns off.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0 Recheck error message memory, clear if necessary.<\/strong><br \/>\nNext few times, when starting the cold engine:<br \/>\na) allow the engine to run idle at least for 5 minutes;<br \/>\nb) drive with longer driving sessions with even RPM and torque when possible.<\/p>\n<p>With this, the creating of initial adaptations can be considered as complete.<\/p>\n<p>Note: when adaptations are cleared, following error messages* can appear immediately:<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0 error messages relating DSC. Solution: drive 10 .. 15 min, switch off\/on ignition;<br \/>\n*\u00a0 error messages relating throttle. Solution: turn on ignition, press and release accelerator pedal for 3 times, then start engine.<\/p>\n<p>During adaptation process (after old adaptations have been cleared) some error messages* can appear:<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0 error messages relating fuel trim (bank and\/or cylinders individually);<br \/>\n*\u00a0 insufficient performance of CO catalytic converters;<br \/>\n*\u00a0 Lambda probes (trim and\/or signal);<br \/>\n*\u00a0 uneven run (Stratified charge and\/or Homogeneous injection).<\/p>\n<p>these error messages in the exact situation do not indicate any problems with the engine performance.<\/p>\n<p>After new adaptations are completed (after 5 .. 8 driving sessions for cold\/warm engine, at least 200 .. 300 km), check the new adaptations and clear error message memory using INPA or ISTA D\/ ISTA+, if necessary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0 When starting a session with ISTA D\/ ISTA+, basic data of car does not appear on the computer screen, they must be entered manually.<\/strong> Menus relating NOx sensor and NOx converter are not accessible.<br \/>\nThe reason: communication problems between ISTA D\/ ISTA+ and the car. Typical problems with OBD \/ USB host or ICOM IP address and port settings. Contact interface vendors to resolve the issue. If communication between the car and ISTA D\/ ISTA+ is established, the car\u2019s basic data will be read from the car.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0 After confirmation of deleting the adaptations (by pressing \u2018Continue\u2019 after the warning \u2018Adaptation values will now be reset\u2019), the message<\/strong> \u2018Could NOT reset adaptation values\u2019appears.<br \/>\nThe reason: the condition \u2018Ignition ON\u2019 is not met, see p.3<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0 How to comply with \u2018Ignition ON\u2019? \u2013 my car does not have an ignition key, it is equipped with the Start \/ Stop button.<\/strong><br \/>\nTo activate \u2018Ignition ON\u2019 mode:<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0 insert the key into the slot;<br \/>\n*\u00a0 do not press any pedal (no clutch, no brake pedal);<br \/>\n*\u00a0 press the \u2018Start \/ Stop\u2019 button several times while all the indicators (ABS\/DTC, SRS, etc.) light up in the KOMBI.<\/p>\n<p>After confirmation of deleting the adaptations (by pressing \u2018Continue\u2019 after the warning \u2018Adaptation values will now be reset\u2019), the message \u2018Switch off Terminal 15 and terminal R\u2019appears.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Action required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0 switch off the ignition;<br \/>\n*\u00a0 remove the key from the slot;<br \/>\n*\u00a0 wait for further instructions.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steps to re-adapt BMW engine with BMW ISTA-D or ISTA+ software: (Rheingold is the old name of ISTA\/D.
