This instruction show a guide on how to perform the crank relearn for GM Saturn vehicles.<\/p>\n

GM SATIRM Crankshaft Relearn Procedures:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses crankshaft velocity calculations to determine engine misfire and to operate engine misfire self-diagnostics. PCM must know precisely the variation between notches on the crankshaft. PCM contains crankshaft learn procedure which learns the variation between notches on crankshaft. The crankshaft learn procedure must be reset if PCM, crankshaft, or crankshaft position sensor are replaced.<\/p>\n

2.If crankshaft learn procedure is being performed as a result of replacing the crankshaft, reset crankshaft learn procedure using Scan Tool equipment and manufacturer\u2019s instructions. If replacing PCM with a replacement PCM, procedure will be prompted automatically. Allow engine to idle until SERVICE light flashes. Hold engine speed between 3000-4000 RPM until light goes off after about 10-20 seconds.<\/p>\n

NOTE: If any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) exist that relate to an engine misfire, crankshaft learn procedure will not be initiated. Any DTCs for engine misfire must be corrected before performing crankshaft learn procedure.<\/p>\n

Part 2: How-to\u2019s of GM Tech2 Crankshaft Position Variation Learn<\/strong><\/p>\n

All right, today we\u2019re going to be going through a crankshaft position relearn sequence on a Chevy Colorado or a GMC Canyon. My trucks of 2005 GMC Canyon with 3.5 liter, so the first thing we\u2019re going to do today is to have our GM Tech 2 Scan Tool<\/a> to setup here, we\u2019re going to plug it into the DC port down here and we\u2019re going to have the obd2 port hooked up down here. Once we have that all hooked up, first thing we\u2019re gonna do is we wanna start our truck and you want to have it warmed up. You can see I\u2019m about probably at 160 right now I think the bare minimum is about 155, so I\u2019m just above the line of what we need to be.<\/p>\n

So we\u2019re going to start it and then once we do that we will hit the power button down in the GM Tech2 scanner. It will run through its initialization sequence here.<\/p>\n

Select my year \u201c2005\u201d.<\/p>\n

Select \u201cLD Trk, MPV, Incomplete\u201d.<\/p>\n

Enter \u201cGMC Truck\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And the product line code for our trucks is a S. So if you have a Chevy Colorados can be the same thing, it\u2019s going to be Chevy truck and then S.<\/p>\n

Make sure your parking brake set, it says \u201cDo not apply brake pedal\u201d. We\u2019re going to click \u201cEnter\u201d. It says apply and hold brake pedal so I\u2019m going to apply the brake pedal down there, turn your AC off and vehicle must remain in park or Neutral. Press Enter to continue.<\/p>\n

And try to get both screens here at the same time. You see it already shut me down.<\/p>\n

You just fix the problem, you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s how you use GM Tech2 do a crankshaft position relearn on a 2004 \u2013 2012 Chevy Colorado \/Canyon.<\/p>\n
