Preparation:
Device: Launch X431 PRO5/ X431 PAD V (PAD 5)/PAD VII(Pad 7)
Car model: BMW 320i E90 2006
Steps:
Step 1. Diagnose fault code
Enter the launch scan tool main menu
Select BMW newest software version>> Automatically search>> Coding/Program
Detect the vehicle info and some fault codes in the system list
Step 2.Clear fault code
Select ABS (Anti- Lock Braking system- DSC)
Confirm the module information
Clear fault code
Step 3. Calibrate BMW DSC Steering Angle Sensor
When read fault code again, it still shows 5E50 fault code
5E50 DSC: Steering- Angle Sensor: Serial number; Calibration required
Select Fault Guidance>> Special function- SZL/DSC: Steering Angle Sensor Adjustment>> Operate
The steering angle must be calibrated after following jobs:
Replacement of steering column switch cluster
Encoding of DSC Control Unit
Adjustment work on steering geometry
Working on steering and/or front axle
The run flat indicator must be additionally initialed after adjusting the steering angle on completion of the following work:
Encoding of DSC control unit
Replacement of DSC control unit
Steering Angle Sensor matching…
For vehicle starting from 12/2004, the SZL must be encoded after a replacement.
The adjustment of the steering angle sensor in the steering column switch cluster only works ro the steering column switch cluster is encoded.
The steering column switch cluster is automatically encoded as the DSC control unit is encoded.
Press ‘No’ to continue
Exactly set front wheels to straight-ahead position. The steering wheel must be positioned horizontally (approximate setting sufficient)
Adjustment of the steering angle was successful
Visually align the steering wheel in horizontal position to check the zero position of the steering angle (wheels in straight ahead position)
Steering angle: 0.000000 degrees
Check whether the displayed steering angle 0 degrees
Press ‘Yes’ to continue
Adjustment of the steering angle was carried out correctly
Initialise run flat indicator if necessary (see owner’s handbook)
Service function finished
Finally, read fault code again
Now there is no DTC on the screen.
